Man locks his wife and two children in shack and sets it alight in Carolina

The man allegedly locked his wife and two children, aged five and seven years, in their three-room shack on 24 November at about 12am.

Carolina police arrested a man (35) from Nkanini Section in Silobela, Carolina in connection with attempted murder, arson and the violation of a protection order.

The man allegedly locked his wife and two children, aged five and seven years, in their three-room shack on 24 November at about 12am.

According to Sgt Thabang Mokwana, spokesman of Carolina police, the man poured petrol on the shack and set it alight.

“The neighbours extinguished the fire and rescued the mother and children.

They were then rushed to the Carolina Hospital where they received medical attention.”

Sgt Mokwana said the suspect who is the father, also sustained burns.

He was arrested.
