It has been 22 years since South Africa began creating more awareness around the 16 Days of Activism campaign.
Ms Zandria Malgas, social worker, said the 16 Days of Activism campaign comes in a time when South Africa and most other countries had to face the Covid 19-pandemic and lockdowns.
“South Africa has seen horrifying and terrifying gender based violence during the lockdown period,” said Ms Malgas.
“We as the Highveld Social Service Centre are designated child protection organisations and registered non-profit organisations with the mandate from provincial department of social development to ensure the protection and care of children in accordance with the Children Act 38 of 2005.”
The social workers asked the community to support their initiative to create awareness.
