Chrissiesmeer’s Marian Bezuidenhout is (gin)uinely good at brewing gin

"I have become completely immersed in the world of gin and all the trendy things the industry has to offer."

Ms Marian Bezuidenhout, a resident of Chrissiesmeer, has been brewing her own gin for five years.

She made beer for the first time in her biotech class and later she went for a gin course at Distillique.

“Once I began distilling it just pulled me in more and more, there are always new flavours to try and new blends to brew.”

Ms Bezuidenhout said it has been an incredible journey and it would be hard to pick out one moment as a highlight.

“I guess hosting our own gin and beer fest in Chrissiesmeer has definitely got to be one of the fondest memories.”

Brewing gin is a three step process which consists of fermentation, distillation and enhancement.

She created her own brand called Highvelder Handcrafted gin.

“I have become completely immersed in the world of gin and all the trendy things the industry has to offer.”
