Ermelo’s Oros van der Walt says racing remote control cars is an adrenaline rush

“I experience the same nervous energy as I am sure most rally drivers do before a race,” he said.

Adrenaline rushes through Mr Oros van der Walt’s body when he races remote control vehicles.

Mr van der Walt became a member of the Ermelo Remote Control Club in 2018.

Messrs John Steyn, Wors Breytenbach and Christo Bower, members of the club, shared their knowledge with him.

When the Highvelder asked Mr Van der Walt to describe remote control racing, he said, it is an adrenaline-rush similar to that of a real race.

“I experience the same nervous energy as I am sure most rally drivers do before a race,” he said.

He specialises in Super Stock and Truck racing and was ranked fourth in South Africa in the Truck Class and third in the Super Stock Class last year.

“The first time I won was at a club competition in the Rookie Class, it was exhilarating,” he said.
