Secunda-woman gives information about oxygen

SECUNDA – Ms Nadine Hugo, who daily sees patients suffering from various illnesses and who has also seen patients die from Covid-19, wants to urge the community to take these matters seriously.

“Some people think this pandemic is a money making scheme, but I want to tell you, people are really dying from Covid-19,” said Ms Hugo. She works for a company that supplies oxygen.

Ms Hugo has the unfortunate task of deciding which patient should receive oxygen.

She also wants people to know that if you tested positive for Covid-19, it does not necessarily mean you need oxygen.

“If everyone just obey the policies and rules set into place during the pandemic, such as wearing your mask when in public and sanitising often, we will be able to overcome this pandemic faster,” said Ms Hugo.

“Just love your neighbour as the Bible says and show some courtesy during this pandemic.”

People also do not understand the procedure when a company must supply an oxygen tank.

“Unfortunately there are some paper work and test results that I need before I can supply a patient with an oxygen tank.

“I cannot just supply it without the paperwork and I cannot just give oxygen to anybody.

“If I supply too much oxygen to a person, it can lead to fatal consequences and that is what people do not understand.”

She urged people to rather speak to their doctor when they test positive for Covid-19 and not try to get an oxygen machine immediately without their doctors’ orders.
Ms Hugo also has to supply oxygen to people who have been on oxygen for years due to other health problems.
“These people really cannot breathe without their oxygen and people wanting oxygen when they test positive for Covid-19, while they do not actually need it, are taking it away from these people.”
