Drop-in centre in eMbalenhle is dependent on community

Directors thank Roots Butchery for food and support.

eMBALENHLE – The Lathoma Drop-in Community Centre takes care of more than a hundred children daily.

Needy children can get a meal from the centre every day and the staff at the centre also helps the children with homework.

Mr Philimon Madutlela, one of the directors of the centre, said if it was not for Roots Burchery in eMbalenhle and donations from the community, the centre would not have been able to continue feeding needy children.

This non-profit organisation was founded in 2018 and Mr Madutlela said they faced difficult times since the Covid-19 pandemic broke out.

“Because of Roots Butchery, there are less children going to bed hungry,” said Mr Madutlela.

The aim of the management team at the Lathoma Drop-in Communty Centre is to overcome poverty and to help children to have a better future by helping them with homework and providing food.

The directors urged the community to support this drop-in centre by donating food, clothes or anything else they think the centre could use.
