Bethal will get a mall later this year
The existing taxi rank will be upgraded and will be incorporated in the shopping centre.
BETHAL – A brand new mall will open in Bethal in the central business district (CBD), near the N17 highway on the corner of Moses Kotane Street and Church Street on 25 November.
Construction for Bethal Mall has already begun.
This mall will be 9 907m² big with 33 shops.
The shops that will be located in the mall are Shoprite, Shoprite Liquor, Roots Butchery, OK Furniture, Clicks, Mr Price, Bradlows, Ackermans, Pep Cell, Pep, Studio 88, Beaver Canoe, Legit,
Markham, Rage, Winners, Shoe Street, King Pie, GM Optometrists, Media World and NR Cell Clinix.
There are also still a few vacant shops.
Baytower Properties 225 (Pty) Ltd is the developer of Bethal Mall and the Myriad Group is consulting on behalf of them.
Ms Louise McGowan of the Myriad Group said the location of the new mall is the key advantage as it forms the gateway into Bethal.
“The currently operating bustling taxi rank is a major attraction and will be a contributing factor to the success of the development.
“The existing taxi rank will be upgraded and will be incorporated in the shopping centre.
“All roads that feed from the informal settlements merge at the site and is said to b e the beginning and end of such transportation hub.
“Because of the fact that the site forms part of the CBD and is not situated out of town, the development will enjoy constant business and foot flow from all residents of Bethal.”
The Myriad Group released census statistic from 2011, which were adjusted for 2018/23 and according to these stats, the total population in the Govan Mbeki municipal area was 294 541 in 2011 with two per cent growth in 2018 and another two per cent growth in 2023 which will make a total population of 373 549 in 2023.
Households increased from 83 874 in 2011 to 96 345 in 2018 and will be 106 373 in 2023.
