Carolina Police and K9 Narcotic Detection Unit conduct operation at school

No drugs or weapons were found during the operation at Violet Jiyane Secondary School.

Carolina Police along with the K9 Narcotic Detection Unit conducted a random search of learners, classrooms and the school yard at Violet Jiyane Secondary School on 17 May.

The aim of the operation was to ensure a drug-free zone, and to discourage learners from using drugs.

Sgt Thabang Mokwana, spokesman for Carolina Police, said similar operations will be conducted randomly at local schools in order to address some social ills such as the carrying of illegal firearms, drug use, and gang-affiliated offences.

He added that neither drugs nor weapons were found during their operation.
