Man and women allegedly pour sulphuric acid on each other during argument in Ermelo

Mr Mandla Zwane, spokesman of Msukaligwa Muncipality said the fire service was dispatched to Ermelo Provincial Hospital for a hazardous material incident involving sulphuric acid. 

A man and women allegedly poured acid on one another during an argument at the corner of De Jager and MacDonald Street on 27 May.

According to Capt Carla Prinsloo, spokesman of Ermelo Police, the police are investigating a case of attempted murder.

Both the man and women were admitted to Ermelo Provincial Hospital for treatment.

Mr Mandla Zwane, spokesman of Msukaligwa Muncipality said the fire service was dispatched to Ermelo Provincial Hospital for a hazardous material incident involving sulphuric acid.

According to him the two people sustained serious chemical burn wounds to the upper and lower body.

“The fire service’s task was to neutralise the acid in the vehicle and to render the area safe,” Mr Zwane concluded.
