EFF hands over memorandum

Ricky B was given seven working days to respond and the memorandum was received by one of the company's directors, Mr Jan Beeslaar, who thanked the EFF for their peaceful march.

EVANDER – Economic Freedom Fighters’ labour desk marched to the company, Ricky B, to handover memorandum on 26 May.

They are accusing the company of unfair labour practices against its employees.

The EFF together with Ricky B-employees began their march at the entrance to the Evander industrial park and moved to the Ricky B offices.

The march was monitored by the police and traffic officers.

Before handing over the memorandum, Ms Khanyisile Mbele from the EFF Gert Sibande labour desk, told the company representatives to cooperate with them otherwise they will act harsher against the company.

“Though the EFF is a political party, it also represent the working class. It concern us the way the company is treating its employees.

“We stand firm with workers and our visit is to hand over a memorandum containing the workers’ demands,” said Ms Mbele.

The demands included the supply of personal protective equipment to employees every six months.

Ricky B was given seven working days to respond and the memorandum was received by one of the company’s directors, Mr Jan Beeslaar, who thanked the EFF for their peaceful march.

He promised to respond in due course.
