UPDATE: Acacia road open for travel again

The road is open again and safe for travel.

UPDATE: 6 June 4.30pm

Protesters are allegedly complaining about electricity problems which is possibly the reason for the protest near Acacia.

According to Capt Carla Prinsloo, spokesman of Ermelo Police, police are on the scene and managed the situation.

The road is open again and safe for travel.

6 June – 3.59pm

Residents are protesting near Acacia on the road from Ermelo to Piet Retief.

The reason as to why residents are protesting is not yet known however, they have blocked-off the road.

Motorists are urged to use alternative routes if possible and avoid the area.

The Highvelder Newspaper sent media enquiries to Capt Carla Prinsloo, spokesman of Ermelo Police and awaits response.
