Protesters set tyres alight near Acacia and blocked the road from Ermelo to Piet Retief.

The reason for the protest action is not yet known, however, residents were also protesting in the same area on 6 June.

That protest was allegedly about electricity issues.

According to information from the South African Community Crime Watch Group (SACCW) police were dispatched to the scene tonight.

Motorists are urged to avoid this road if possible and take caution.
