Residents complain about noise of illegal businesses

It is illegal to operate an industrial business from a residential area.

SECUNDA – Residents of Anton van Wouw Street, Generaal de Wet Street and Jack Hindon Street complained about people operating industrial businesses from houses in this residential area.

“Early in the morning they begin making noise and the dogs in the neighbourhood are barking at vehicles lining up here to pick up things,” said a resident.

According to this resident, there is now much more traffic in his street because the business has vehicles picking up things and dropping off things numerous times a day.

Some of the neighbours who are renting houses are considering moving to a better area.

Ms Mariaan Chamberlain, DA councillor said it is illegal to run an industrial business from residential premises and people should rent a space in the industrial area.

The Ridge Times asked Mr Lucky Mhlongo, spokesman of Govan Mbeki Municipality for comment on Friday, 28 May, but he did not respond at the time of going to press.
