Muscular dystrophy claims the life of Bethal’s Ashley

Ms Van Dyk was diagnosed with muscular dystrophy in 1996 at the age of two and a half years.

BETHAL – Family are grieving the loss of Ms Ashley van Dyk (27) who died on Thursday, 10 June.

Ms Van Dyk was diagnosed with muscular dystrophy in 1996 at the age of two and a half years.

Ms van Dyk would have celebrated her 28th birthday in October.

The Ridge Times reported last week,11 June, on the family’s struggles to continuously supply Ms van Dyk with the much needed 24-hour oxygen supply due to the electricity outages in Bethal.

Ms van Dyk leaves behind her parents, Mr Hendrik and Ms Susan van Dyk, her brother Mr Pieta van Dyk, cousin Mr Frikkie du Plessis and grandmother Ms Karin Pieterse.

Her funeral service was held on 15 June at the Bikers’ Church in Secunda.
