Angel Foundation feeds some of the unemployed in Standerton
Ms Khanyile said the foundation has also received support from the government of Taiwan and a church in America.
The Angel Foundation began handing out food in the CBD in Burger Street on Tuesday, July 6 catering especially for job seekers from Sakhile, returning home.
Altogether 36 meals consisting of pap, mince and vegetables were given to the the hungry in less than an hour.
Ms Angel Khanyile plans on doing this weekly at different venues.
SuperSpar and Veggie Spot in Standerton sponsored the food.
Ms Khanyile said the foundation has also received support from the government of Taiwan and a church in America.
With the Taiwanese sponsorship, food for 90 people are envisaged and the money from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, will be used to feed 800 people.
“The unemployment rate is increasing,” she said.
Ms Silvia Ngwenya, foundation worker, said the increase in municipal rates also affects the livelihood of residents.
The foundation was established in April 2019 in an attempt to address a myriad of social ills.
“Donations will be welcomed,” Ms Khanyile added.
