Man jumps from first floor window of Mediclinic Highveld

Hospital spokesman said man is fine and they cannot give information.

TRICHARDT – A man allegedly jumped out of a window from the first floor at Mediclinic Highveld on Sunday, 8 August.

An eye witness who saw it happened, thought the man committed suicide and was dead, but according to Ms Tertia Kruger, Corporate Communications Manager of Mediclinic Southern Africa, the man was unharmed.

She said Mediclinic is aware of the incident and regards this matter in a very serious light, but due to patient confidentiality, cannot provide any further information.

The eye witness said she and her husband was at the hospital when the incident happened at about 11:30 on Sunday.

“He jumped from the unit above casualties from the first floor,” said the eye witness.

“The way he sat on the window sill before jumping, he looked as if he was not aware of what was going on around him and he did not respond to people on the ground floor calling him and talking to him.
“He looked like someone with a mental condition or who had too much medication or maybe sleep medication.”
