Truck’s wheel comes off, crashes through house near Ermelo

When the neighbours heard the sound of the impact, they thought a bomb had gone off.

ERMELO – A truck was on its way from Ermelo to Amersfoort on July 16, when one of its tyres came off.

The tyre bounced across the road and crashed into the house of the Mbokane family.

The Mbokanes are a family of six, the eldest being 76 and the youngest, two.

Fortunately, no one was in the house when the incident took place.

When the neighbours heard the sound of the impact, they thought a bomb had gone off.

The tyre broke through one of the walls of the mud house and hit one of the wooden poles that sustains the structure.

The Mbokanes tried to fix the wall of the house, however, due to the pole being broken, the structure is leaning and poses a danger to the family.

Read the attempts the family has made to rebuild the damaged wall of their house in the Highvelder newspaper.
