A resident in Coligny Street, Standerton has to make do with sewage and power problems.
The potholes in the road are a story for another day.
Ms Elize Klopper contacted the Standerton Advertiser the past week and followed it up with a visit to the offices on Tuesday. November 30.
According to Ms Klopper, sewage has been flowing down the street for close on three years and the electricity problem been reported several times.
It has been reported at the Lekwa Municipality and reference numbers 010750 and 011032 referred respectively to June and August this year, with regard to power outages.
During the newspaper’s investigation on Monday at 9:00, workers from the Lekwa Municipality were busy at the overflowing manhole.
Mr Jabulani Khumalo, a tenant, showed where the sewage was flowing into the yard.
The newspaper also noticed municipal workers at the intersection of Joubert Street and Kerk Street the past week.
They were attending to a manhole and refused point-blank that a photo be taken.
Clean water was leaking across the intersection.
Kerk Street by all accounts has the hospital-line with unwanted objects clogging the sewerage system.
A trustworthy source commented on bandages and nappies finding their way into the system.
The communications department of the municipality issued a notice on Thursday, December 2 that four teams are attending to water and sewage problems.
The first was attending to the water problem at 14A Esselen Street, the second to a water problem at the Oriental Plaza, the third to a water leak at Kosmos Street and the fourth to a water leak at 2797 Sengane Street.
