We, the people of Lekwa, need to embrace this festive period with joy and optimism as Christmas approaches.
When the birth of Christ is celebrated across the world, the people of Lekwa must celebrate the birth of new hope, a new tomorrow and the tomorrow that we all, regardless of political affiliation, race, gender or creed, have to be involved in rebuilding.
As this is time of giving, let us all give ourselves, let’s give our time, strength, our prayers and hope to our town by doing the best we can in feeding the hungry, clothing the poor and comforting the abused.
On behalf of Lekwa Municipality, councillors, management and the entire staff, we want to wish you all a time of joy and happiness.
When we celebrate, let’s celebrate responsibly by putting our safety, and all those around us, first.
Let us be reminded that Covid-19 is still with us and raise our white candles to the memory of those we lost due to the pandemic.
To our visitors and those passing through our towns, be part of rebuilding these towns by spending your money in our towns.
It will contribute to economic development that you will be proud of.
Let us condemn and prevent gender-based violence and child abuse and adhere to all road safety regulations in order to ‘Arrive Alive’.
We also wish all of you a happy new year, a successful and a prosperous 2022 that we will welcome in rebuilding out towns.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
Mr Louis Thabethe, mayor.
