Police swiftly responded and when they arrived on the scene behind a smallholding in Elandsfontein, they managed to catch the culprits red-handed.

The Pretoria-Cullinan Police made a positive breakthrough when they managed to arrest five suspects for tampering with essential infrastructure.

According to a media statement issued by the Cullinan Police, they received information on Monday, May 16, about suspicious people digging up cables next to the railway line.

The police swiftly responded and when they arrived on the scene behind a smallholding in Elandsfontein, they managed to catch the culprits red-handed.

“Management appreciates the excellent work and swift response from the dedicated team,” said Sgt Connie Moganedi, spokesperson for the Cullinan Police.

Moganedi once again emphasised that the community is urged to speak out against the damage of infrastructure.

“It robs our children of their future inheritance and affects South Africa’s economy in a negative way.”

At the time of going to print, the Cullinan Police confirmed that the suspects would soon appear in the Cullinan Magistrate’s Court for the contravention of section 3(1) act 18/2018 of 2015, tampering / damaging of essential infrastructure.
