New members welcomed to Secunda Parkrun

SECUNDA – There are 195 parkrun locations countrywide and Secunda Parkrun continues to see growth in welcoming new members every Saturday.
Parkruns are free and can be done at one’s own pace whether it be running, jogging, walking or volunteering.
Secunda Parkrun #324, on October 22, welcomed Vuyane Ngwenya, Mimi Ncube, Mervin Price, Ruben Price, Annika O’Donovan, Christopher Govindan, Sunet Ellis, Catherine Vermeulen, Kerry Bird, Roelof Vermaak and Chelsea Vermaak as first timers.
151 parkrunners took to the 5km course. Piet Nieuwenhuis was the eldest parkrunner at the age of 77 years old and completed his 101 parkrun.
Father and son duo Alexander van Zyl and Chris van Zyl completed their 50th parkrun. Elsje Jefferies, Kayla Bezuidenhout and Michelle Barnard were the first three women to finish.
The first three men were Reuel Jefferies, Musa Timothy Mukansi and Johannes Retief. Secunda Parkrun #325 took place on October 29 and welcomed four first-timers to the parkrun family.
They were Thomas Horn, Yolisa Kutyiswayo, Phindiwe Skosana and Bubele Kutiswayo. Johanna van Tonder, at the age of 77 years old, was the eldest woman at the day’s event and completed her 148th parkrun.
Claiming the first three spots for the women were Meenal Manga, Maritza Graham and Kate Lapacz. The first three men to finish were Colin Louw, Dirk van den Heever and Johannes Retief.
