Brave souls take on 5km at river park in Standerton

Theo Schönfeldt completed his 150th parkrun and a round of applause followed when this announcement was made just before 08:00.

Altogether 61 participants took on the parkrun on Saturday, February 4, knowing full well the route will be muddy after rain the previous evening.

A visitor from Secunda arrived, two new faces were seen and eight athletes improved their times.

Theo Schönfeldt completed his 150th parkrun and a round of applause followed when this announcement was made just before 08:00.

Juma Kadar crossed the finish line in a time of 25:20, a new personal best, followed by Andiswamhlubi Hadebe in 25:25, a first-timer.

Reneilwe Tsotetsi achieved a personal best of 26:28, while Ilse Ferreira ran her 50th in 26:28.

Wassie Rossouw clocked in at 27:34, improving his time, while Schönfeldt registered a time of 28:12.

Katleho Sebiloane improved his personal best with a time of 29:12, followed by Jané van Niekerk’s 29:31, also a new personal best.

Eddie Combrink, a new face, ran a time of 29:35, followed by Mariette Jansen van Vuuren’s 30:46.

Antoinette Herbst, Charl van Wyk, Jennifer Naidoo, Lizette Jansen van Rensburg, Ruwan Vermaak, Séan Jansen van Rensburg, Sylvy Moodley, Wessel Herbst and Willy Smith took up positions to ensure a safe and smooth event.
