Water levels at Grootdraai Dam in Standerton stands at 103.7%
The report also shows that the average water levels in Mpumalanga increased from 96.7% to 98.0%.
Grootdraai Dam recorded a 3.7% improvement in water levels.
According to the Department of Water and Sanitation’s state of reservoirs report dated February 6, levels at Grootdraai Dam in the Integrated Vaal River System in the Gert Sibande District in Mpumalanga improved after successive weeks of decline.
It increased from last week’s 100% to 103.7%.
The other listed dams in the district that recorded improvements include Vygeboom Dam from 100.6% to 101.6%, Jericho from 98.4% to 100.4%, Westoe from 97.0% to 97.7% and Heyshope from 100.3% to 100.9%.
Nooitgedacht and Morgenstond dams recorded some declines in water volumes, dropping from 100.6% to 100.1% and 99.9% to 98.3%.

The report also shows that the average water levels in Mpumalanga increased from 96.7% to 98.0%.
In the Water Management Areas (WMA), the Olifants increased from 84.7% to 86.1% and the Inkomati-Usuthu increased from 98.9% to 99.7%.
The average water levels in the districts also improved, with Ehlanzeni recording an increase from 96.6% to 98.0%, Gert Sibande increasing from 100.0% to 101.3% and Nkangala increasing from 91.3% to 92.5%.
The department encouraged the public to use the available water wisely and sparingly, especially near the end of the rainy season.
They also encouraged the public to make use of the rain and harvest rainwater to reduce the pressure on the municipal water supply systems.
