Dead chickens fall from truck as it travels through Delmas
The carcasses were apparently being transported to a feed plant in Greylingstad.
Delmas residents were awoken on Wednesday morning, February 15, by the awful smell and disturbing images of dead chickens all over roads in and around Delmas and surrounding areas.
The specific circumstances around the incident are not yet known, but it seems as if the chickens were being transported from Bapsfontein to an animal feed plant in Greylingstad.
Unconfirmed information has it that the truck’s hatch latch was not properly closed and that the chickens fell off the truck without the driver noticing it.
Local rendering plants, companies and volunteers joined hands in the massive and smelly cleaning operation.
The Department of Environmental Affairs as well as a state veterinarian were apparently contacted to follow the proper procedure during the clean-up operation.
