Graceland in Secunda gives scholarships to several students
The Graceland Hotel, Casino and Country Club gave back to the community.
Youngsters from Secunda and surrounding towns attended a three-day workshop at Emperors Palace.
This workshop is part of the Graceland Hotel, Casino and Country Club and Peermont’s CSI initiative. The Southern
Highveld Community Development Trust and the Peermont Education Trust (PET) funded the workshop.
Five students can now pursue hospitality management degrees under the direction of the Peermont Community Benefit Trust (PCBT).
The students who received a scholarship of R120 000 each were Owethu Radebe, Mongezi Mayaba, Philisiwe Mayaba, Mlungisi Mazibuko, Nicole Mapea, Philiswa Luvuno, Siphamandla Mabena, Solomon Zucule and Angel Phakathi.
This year, they will further their tertiary studies at various universities in SA.
At the workshop, they learnt the skills needed to find and keep a decent, meaningful job, including self-employment, for when they finish their studies.
They also worked on their communication and interpersonal skills, teamwork, dependability skills and critical thinking.
