First timer takes the lead at the Standerton parkrun

The free event offers joggers, athletes and walkers an opportunity to compete against themselves.

Xolani Msimango’s first participation in the Standerton parkrun saw him finishing the race as number one with a time of 20:20 making it his new personal best.

Altogether 64 runners participated in the parkrun, with two first timers, three new personal best times as well as Johann Vosloo achieving his 50th parkrun.

The parkrun at the Standerton River Park is made possible by volunteers who are deployed at strategic points. The free event offers joggers, athletes and walkers an opportunity to compete against themselves.

Mthokozisi Tshwala crossed the finish line in a time of 20:24, while Oupanyana Kubheka who is a first timer finished at 21.06.

Patrick Tsotetsi finished at 21.40, while Timothy Hoop achieved his personal best of 22.40, Ndlangisa also made his personal best clocking at 25.22.

Riaan Dippenaar also achieved his personal best of 28.01.

Volunteers Charmaine Smith, Jennifer Naidoo, Krishnalal Ramdharee, Lizette Jansen Van Rensburg, Lydia Roets and Majorie Uys ensured a smooth and safe event.
