Sasol Secunda’s juniors wins U13 cricket league
Sasol NB team wins cricket league.
Young cricket players took part in the Sasol Secunda Junior Club U13 league during the last four weeks.
The Sasol NB team won Pool A when they faced Sasol CB, who finished second. The eight teams in the league played in two pools.
Pool A consisted of Sasol NB, Sasol CB, eMbalenhle and Leandra, while Pool B consisted of Bethal Little Bears, Standerton Lions, HPC Raptors and HPC Gladiators. Both HPC teams are from Ermelo.
In Pool B, the Bethal Little Bears walked away as the winners, with the HPC Gladiators finishing second.
The playoff matches took place at the Sasol Recreation Club on May 25 and the first match saw Sasol CB taking on the HPC Gladiators for the bronze medal.

Sasol CB batted first and scored 117 for eight in 20 overs.
Juan Badenhorst was one of the best players in the match when he made 26 runs. Lehan Toerien from HPC took two for eight in his four overs.
HPC only reached 91 for seven in their 20 overs. Braam Koekemoer took three for nine in his four overs.
Sasol CB won the bronze medal with 26 runs. In the final round, when NB took on the Bethal Little Bears, the Bears decided to bat first.
Johan Grobler was key in Bethal’s innings, with a brilliant captain’s knock of 44 before he was dismissed.
Bethal made 94 for five in their 20 overs.

Sasol’s captain took it upon his shoulders to take his team home, holding his bat throughout the innings, scoring 52 not out.
Derick Botes supported him.
Sasol NB won the match with eight wickets and was crowned as the new U13 champions.
Ryan Parsons from Bethal Little Bears was the MVP of the tournament.
This sums up a near-perfect season for Sasol Secunda Cricket Club. The men won the 50-Over Mpumalanga Premier League and the women won the 35-Over Mpumalanga League.
The U15 and U19 teams went undefeated and both U13 teams won their respective playoff matches.
