New pre-paid water meters to be installed in VKLM

Phase one was set to kick-off on July 1, and will cover the area of Delmas Town and businesses.

The Victor Khanye Local Municipality informed residents and business owners of its intent to install new prepaid water meters.

According to a notice published on July 2, VKLM will roll-out the installation of prepaid water meters in various phases.

Phase one was set to kick-off on July 1, and will cover the area of Delmas Town and businesses. According to the municipality, the prepaid system has benefits for all the parties involved.

The notice further stated that users will be in control of their monthly usage and billing and will be notified of any water leakages.

From the municipality’s perspective it decreases the number of disputed accounts, improves the managing of water resources and assists council with long-term planning.

Sinned Construction has been appointed to install the prepaid water meters.

Property owners and residents are requested to give their full cooperation and assist the municipality by allowing the appointed contractor into their premises and businesses to install prepaid water meters over the next three months.

VKLM further stated that the contractor and/or their delegated subcontractor will be accompanied by VKLM’s officials during the installation.
