Learners take part in Spelling Bee in Kinross

Laerskool Jeugkrag wins competition in Secunda.

Friends of the Library in Thistle Grove hosted its yearly Spelling Bee competition at Graceland Hotel, Casino and Country Club on October 23.

Alicia Miti from DP Kgotleng Primary School won the individual category as well as a special category created by Graceland.

Minenhle Masigale finished second in the individual category, Lebo Mokoena third and Ntsako Ngobeni fourth.

Ntsako Ngobeni of Laerskool Jeugkrag, was the overall Spelling Bee champion when she managed to spell the longest word in the dictionary correctly.

Laerskool Jeugkrag was the winning school with the Highveld Muslim School finishing second and Sasolia Primary School third.

The other schools that took part in this Spelling Bee competition are Thistle Grove Combined School, Laerskool Kinross, Kinross Primary School, Osizweni Primary School, Emdibini Primary School, Langelihle Primary School, Lamlile Primary School, Thandanani Primary School, Sizenzele Primary School, Stanwest Public Library, Trichardtsfontein Primary School, Stanwest Combined School, Highveld Ridge Primary School, DP Kgotleng Primary School, Mpumelelo Primary School, Petrus Maziya Primary School, Zamokuhle Primary School, Thunong Primary School, Igugulabasha Primary School, eMbalenhle Primary School, Nyandeni Primary School, Allan Makhunga Primary School, Cum Laude Primary School and Sidingulwazi Primary School.

A tenor singer from eMbalenhle, Nhlanhla Rich Doremi, entertained the audience during break times. It was the fifth year for Friends of the Library of Thistle Grove to host this Spelling Bee and they had a special cake made to celebrate the occasion.

The library management team thanked Graceland for their support as well as all their other sponsors, departments and schools.
