eMbalenhle teacher rises above her challenges

The Shapeve Primary School teacher won district and provincial awards.

Khanyisa Makhubele, a 35-year-old teacher at Shapeve Primary School, excels in her work despite facing personal challenges, including dyslexia and attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder.

She embraced the chance to show that learning disabilities are not barriers to success.

Her commitment and resilience led her to win the Gert Sibande District teachers’ award this year. She then represented the district at the provincial level, securing third place.

“I hope my journey inspires others to believe they can overcome any challenge with dedication,” said Makhubele.

“Teaching in a school with limited resources comes with challenges, but it also comes with great rewards when we see our learners grow.”

Makhubele said her achievements reflect her passion for education and the impact dedicated teachers can make, regardless of their circumstances.

Her success is a testament to her belief that perseverance and a love for teaching can break down any barrier, encouraging all teachers to reach for their dreams and push beyond the limits.
