Bronkhorstspruit police commander warns about illegal taxi operators

“The proprietors of Avanza have been urged to comply by SETA and GBTA, who look forward to cooperating with them.”

Bronkhorstspruit SAPS commander, Colonel Maqhawe Simon Dhladhla, addressed a meeting held on January 20 in the local sports center.

Gauteng Traffic Police (GTP), Tshwane Metro Police Department, Sakhile Ekangala Taxi Association (SETA), and Greater Bronkhorstspruit Taxi Association (GBTA) engaged to resolve the problem of Avanza owners operating in taxi territory without permission.

During the meeting, GTP described the steps involved in obtaining a permit as well as the repercussions of not having one. The expenses of the penalty were also explained.

“The proprietors of Avanza have been urged to comply by SETA and GBTA, who look forward to cooperating with them,” explained Constable Cathrine Ramovha, corporate communications officer for Bronkhorstspruit SAPS.

“As they will be enforcing the law, the GTP also urged Avanza owners to act morally.”

Dhladhla requested Avanza owners to put their affairs in order and requested the parties to set up a meeting to resolve their differences.
