
The latest Department of Water and Sanitation (DWS) State of Reservoirs report indicates that average dam levels in Mpumalanga remain stable above 99%.
The March 18 statement reported that average dam levels in the province increased slightly from 99.2% to 99.3%.
The overall water levels increased compared to reports of the same time last year. The Gert Sibande District increased slightly from 100.2% to 100.3%.
According to the statement, the Grootdraai Dam remained stable at 102.4%, while the Vygeboom Dam declined from 100.9% to 100.3%.
All other listed dams in Gert Sibande recorded increases.
The Nooitgedacht Dam increased from 100.0% to 100.4%, the Jericho Dam increased from 92.0% to 92.5%, the Westoe and Morgenstond dams from 99.8% to 99.9% and 93.8% to 95.3%, respectively.
The Heyshope Dam increased from 100.9% to 101.1%.
The DWS remind the public that SA is a water-scarce country, “We urge the public to use water sparingly despite the current stable water levels,” said Themba Khoza, spokesperson for the DWS.
