Karateka’s shine at KSA championships held in Durban

The winners will have the chance to represent South Africa at the Union of African Karate Federation competition in Durban from May 30 to June 1.

Students from the Universal Shotokan Karate Union competed in the Karate South Africa (KSA) children, cadets and juniors national championship held at Tongaat in Durban from March 7 to 8.

The junior Kumite Mpumalanga team received third place for boys 16 to 17. Team Kumite (ages 14 to 15 years) were second in cadets.

Lwandle Shabalala was the second-place winner in the Kumite cadets boys ages 14 to 15. Lutendo Netshivhazwaulu received first place in kumite and second place in kata for girls 10 to 11 years.

Third place in the juniors kumite was Kagiso Motsepe. Jaden Malaza was third in the kumite boys ages 10 to 11 years.

The winners will have the chance to represent South Africa at the Union of African Karate Federation competition in Durban from May 30 to June 1.
