“Many of our donors here today have allowed someone to graduate, walk down the aisle, and even witness the birth of a child, and with that, we give you a round of applause,” said Ronald Marsh, the Mpumalanga zone donor manager).
He said that since blood transfusions became possible over 80 years ago, they have made incredible strides in the transfusion sector.

He said they launched more self-sufficient mobile donor clinics to reach areas despite challenges faced in the past.
The spotlight was on milestone donor Pierre Perelaer from Secunda, who has donated over 250 units.
He began donating at 18.
“This is a commendable achievement. We thank you for saving around 750 lives,” said Marsh.
