Local karatekas need your help to compete in Durban
An estimated R4 200 for each karateka is needed to make it to the tournament.
Seven local karatekas need your help with sponsorship to represent South Africa at the African Union Sports Council (AUSC) Union of Federations African Karate (UFAK) international championships happening in Durban from May 22 to May 25.
Karatekas will compete not only against SA opponents but also against opponents from Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Botswana, Lesotho, and Namibia.
An estimated R4 200 for each karateka is needed to make it to the tournament. The amount will include their kits, travel, food and accommodation.
The following have been selected and will represent SA in their categories:
- Breshnev Dhlamini – senior men’s kumite over 84kg.
- Kagiso Motsepe – junior boys ages 16 to 17 years, kumite under 55kg.
- Lwandle Shabalala – cadet boys ages 14 to 15 years, kumite under 63kg.
- Mitchell Malaza – cadet girls ages 14 to 15 years, kumite over 61kg.
- Nkosinathi Savela – boys ages 12 to 13 years, kumite over 55kg.
- Jordan Malaza – boys ages 10 to 11 years, kumite under 30kg.
- Lutendo Netshivhazwaulu – girls ages 10 to 11 years, kata and kumite over 40kg.
