Players battled it out in the opening round of the Buckz Pool Table League, which kicked off on July 31 at Ngcobo’s Tavern in Sakhile, Standerton.
The league is played under Black Ball Rules with a race-to-three format and is expected to continue until mid-November.
Tumelo Radebe emerged as the first-round winner after edging Sabelo Mahlangu 4-3 to take the early lead in the league standings.
Nhlanhla Mjoli moved into second place with a convincing 4-0 victory over Zwelethu Mqambeli, while Musawenkosi Dlamini claimed third place after defeating Nkosinathi Mthethwa 4-0.

Mduduzi Dhlamini occupies fourth place following a 4-1 win against Mbongiseni Mahlasela.
In fifth place is Pule Moleleki, who beat Njabulo Madonsela 4-2, while Sizwe Sithole sits sixth after overcoming Manqoba Gama 4-1.
The overall league champion will receive R3 500, a T-shirt, trophy, cue case and cue.
The runner-up will earn R1 200 and a trophy, while third place will receive R600 and a medal.
Players finishing fourth, fifth and sixth will each take home R300 and a medal.
