NPO from Evander organises community sports tournament

Sponsorhips or donations are welcome to make project happen.

The Victorious Love and Hope NPO’s latest project is to organise a community sports tournament on June 16. The NPO is teaming with the Expedition Galliant Tourism Agency, and the tournament aims to focus on the fight against drug abuse and substance addiction.

Thomas Banga, the founder of Victorious Love and Hope and organiser of the tournament, reckons it requires innovative, inclusive and community-centred strategies to fight drug abuse and addiction.

“In our community, the youth are among the most affected. Drugs and alcohol continue to disrupt their lives, threaten their futures and tear families apart,” said Banga.

He urged individuals, the community and businesses to get involved in this project and take a stand against drug abuse and addiction.

The theme for the community sports tournament is Clean Out Drugs. Although the main sport will be soccer, the organisers will accommodate other sports depending on the community’s interest and resources.

“This project is more than a competition; it is a platform to fight against drug abuse and addiction by prevention and raising awareness, early intervention and counselling, rehabilitation and treatment, aftercare and social re-integration, community mobilisation and advocacy to promote a healthy lifestyle, inspire change and unite people from all walks of life to build a drug-free community,” said Banga.

He invited individuals, businesses, stakeholders, schools and others whose values align with Victorious Love and Hope’s values to support his project and get involved.

Some items his NPO needs to make this sports tournament happen include tents, water, first-aid kits, sports gear, printing, flyers, banners, posters and cards.

People who want to volunteer can get involved with the health and educational services, on-site screenings, information booths or counselling.

Other necessities needed include sports equipment. They also need a venue for the tournament. Anybody who wants to help or get involved can contact Banga on 069 951 1712 or victoriouslovinghope@gmail.com
