Sakhile police grab two women for mob killing

Two women accused of brutally assaulting a couple over a missing R1 000, resulting in one death and one critical injury, are appearing in the Standerton Magistrate’s Court today (June 9).

Two women are appearing in the Standerton Magistrate’s Court today in connection with murder and attempted murder.

According to Lieutenant-Colonel Jabu Ndubane, Mpumalanga police spokesperson, the duo cornered the a man and woman in Sakhile, accusing them stealing R1 000 at a recent party they attended.

The two women forced the victim to one of the assailant’s home where they were then assaulted with an electric cable cord, a shovel, and a knife.

Ndubane said when the attackers realised the woman was unconscious, they took her to a nearby clinic where she was declared dead.

The deceased had fatal stab wounds on her back and several bruises on her body.

According to the Ndubane, her injuries were so severe that her head was swollen. The man is currently in the hospital. Although stable for now, his condition remains critical.
