European soccer scout visits Leandra’s I Promise Soccer Academy
The academy’s founder, Wesley Ntshangase, said the purpose of Lee’s visit was to evaluate the players' fitness, passing, shooting, and dribbling skills, and to determine their potential to compete on an international level.
Renowned European soccer coach and scout, Mike Lee, paid a special visit to the I Promise Soccer Academy in Leandra recently, as part of an initiative to assess young local talent.
The academy’s founder, Wesley Ntshangase, said the purpose of Lee’s visit was to evaluate the players’ fitness, passing, shooting, and dribbling skills, and to determine their potential to compete on an international level.
Ntshangase launched the I Promise Soccer Academy at the Leandra Civic Centre on February 19. The academy currently accommodates 100 boys aged between eight and 15, and has received overwhelming support from the local community.
“I played in Europe because of Mike Lee, who was my agent. That’s why I invited him to assess our academy’s progress. He was impressed with our setup and the standard of training.
“He even donated essential equipment, including soccer kits and coaching booklets, which will help us prepare the boys to reach their full potential.
“Lee’s visit marks a significant milestone for the young players and adds credibility to the academy’s mission of nurturing future soccer stars from Leandra,” Ntshangase explained.
