Police fired rubber bullets to disperse violent protests at KI Thwala Secondary School in eMbalenhle after learners damaged gates, stoned cars, and forced entry.

eMbalenhle police used rubber bullets to disperse protesting learners at KI Thwala Secondary School this afternoon after the violent learners damaged the school’s gates and forced entry into the school premises.

Learners also threw stones and damaged teachers’ vehicles. Teachers were escorted from the school by the Public Order Police.

Private security companies and the Vukanini Taxi Association’s patrollers also assisted the police to disperse the violent learners.

The situation is now calm as the school management tries to repair the gates.
