School in Secunda runs adopt-a-cop programme

Captain Loraine Korope from the Secunda SAPS is Highveld Ridge Primary School’s adopted cop.

Highveld Ridge Primary School hosted Captain Loraine Korope and Sergeant Nyeleti Nkuna from the Secunda SAPS for the school’s Adopt-a-Cop programme.

The visit taught learners about the importance of kindness and respect, reinforcing the school’s commitment to creating a safe environment for all.

The programme is a community-police partnership aimed at strengthening co-operation between local schools, businesses, organisations and the SAPS. Its purpose is to support visible policing and crime prevention, build trust and co-operation between the police and the community and improve safety and service delivery in identified areas.

How it works:
A business, organisation, school, church, or community structure “adopts” a police officer or a police unit. That officer or unit continues to operate under the SAPS command and policies.
