eMbalenhle police conduct search operations at schools

According to Sergeant Busi Mthethwa, eMbalenhle police spokesperson, the operation brought together key partners, including the Community Policing Forum (CPF), the Department of Community Safety, Security and Liaison (DCSSL), the SAPS K-9 Unit, and several private security companies.

The eMbalenhle police, in collaboration with various stakeholders, conducted successful school search operations at Basizeni Special School and Thembelisha ABET School on March 20.

The initiative forms part of ongoing efforts to enhance safety and security within educational environments. According to Sergeant Busi Mthethwa, eMbalenhle police spokesperson, the operation brought together key partners, including the Community Policing Forum (CPF), the Department of Community Safety, Security and Liaison (DCSSL), the SAPS K-9 Unit, and several private security companies.

This multi-stakeholder approach ensured a co-ordinated and effective execution of the searches.

“The primary objective of the operation was to promote a safe and secure learning environment by preventing the presence of dangerous weapons, illegal substances, and other prohibited items on school premises. In addition, learners were educated on the importance of adhering to school safety regulations and made aware of the consequences of engaging in criminal activities.

“No major incidents were reported during the operation, and both school management and learners demonstrated commendable co-operation throughout the process,” said Mthethwa.

Mthethwa said the initiative forms part of ongoing crime prevention strategies aimed at safeguarding schools while also strengthening trust between law enforcement agencies and the community.

Mthethwa also said eMbalenhle SAPS has reaffirmed its commitment to working closely with all relevant stakeholders to ensure that schools remain safe, secure spaces conducive to learning and development.
