Two nurses from Trichardt awarded
Mediclinic Highveld in Trichardt recognise nurses and celebrate international Nurses Day.
Two nurses, Palesa Mokwena and Duduzile Shabalala, were named as the best nurses at Mediclinic Highveld on May 12.
The staff of Mediclinic Highveld celebrated International Nurses Day on May 12, on the same day as the late Florence Nightingale’s birthday.
According to Sphiwe Mahlalela, patient experience manager at Highveld Mediclinic, they used this day to highlight the compassion, skills and leadership that define the nursing profession.
Mediclinic Highveld recognises its nurses and their invaluable contribution to delivering exceptional patient care each year on International Nurses Day.
“We honour the vital role they play within our hospitals, day clinics and the broader communities we serve,” said Mahlalela.

The theme for this year was ‘Leading with Care’, and Mediclinic Highveld’s management team recognises that nursing leadership takes many forms.
“Whether they are advocating for patients, mentoring colleagues or guiding multidisciplinary teams, nurses demonstrate leadership through their everyday actions,” said Mahlalela.
“Mediclinic believes quality nursing is rooted in empathy, compassion and clinical excellence. Our nurses not only meet patients’ clinical needs but also support their emotional well-being, ensuring a holistic and positive care experience.
“By leading with compassion and caring with skill, they strengthen the quality of care we provide across our facilities.
“We extend our sincere thanks and appreciation to our nursing teams for the dedication, expertise and leadership they show every day.”
