Standerton SAPS lead crime prevention efforts

Captain Braam Robberts, communications officer for the Standerton SAPS, said they made another arrest against a driver who failed to produce a driver’s license.

The Standerton SAPS recently executed several crime prevention operations to show visibility and ensure the community’s safety.

During the operation, the officers made several arrests, including two burglars, four drunk drivers and one person in possession of drugs.

Captain Braam Robberts, communications officer for the Standerton SAPS, said they made another arrest against a driver who failed to produce a driver’s license.

“During the operation, they opened a case against a suspect who failed to stop at a traffic light. When confronted by a police officer, the suspect failed to comply with instructions and drove off,” explained Robberts.

Though the suspect has not been located, Robberts assured he would face the full force of the law.

“We urge the public to follow traffic rules, comply with road signals and follow the instructions of traffic officers, which by definition include police officers,” added Robberts.

During this operation, the SAPS issued several fines for drinking in public.

Drinking in public is an offence under the Mpumalanga Liquor Licensing Act 5 of 2006.

“We urge members of the public to buy a Coke for the road than ending up with an R500 fine,” concluded Robberts.
