WATCH: Parolee nabbed in Standerton for smuggling contraband into prison

A 31-year-old parolee was arrested after allegedly concealing a cellphone and dagga inside food items during a visit to an inmate at Standerton Correctional Services.

A parolee (31) was arrested at Standerton Correctional Services on January 18 for attempting to smuggle contraband into the prison cells.

According to a statement compiled by Sergeant Thulisile Magagula, the inmate had attempted to smuggle a cell phone and dagga into the facility whilst visiting a friend who was incarcerated.

The suspect had brought food items, but it was discovered during the visit that a cell phone was concealed in a bag of instant porridge; the dagga was hidden in a plastic bag.
