Nel and Pretorius from Standerton emerge as champions

Lanie Nel and Louise Pretorius from Standerton recently clinched the title at the Mpumalanga Mixed Pairs Lawn Bowls Competition.
The LVCC Lawn Bowls Club in Mbombela (Nelspruit) played host to the competition on February 11 and 12 where top players from various clubs across the province battle it out for the title of champion.
According to information, the duo displayed exceptional skills and teamwork throughout the competition, leaving their opponents in awe of their dominance on the greens.
Nel and Pretorius showed a level of cohesion that is rarely seen on the lawn bowls circuit, effortlessly executing their shots with precision and accuracy.

Their seamless communication and unbreakable partnership proved to be a formidable force on the greens, earning them the admiration of both fans and competitors alike.
The Standerton pair went on to win the title after a hard-fought battle in the final against their tough opponents from Ermelo Bowls Club – Vincent Sonnekus and Gwennith Walter-Gerout.
Their win has now qualified them to represent the province at the South Africa Mixed Pairs Lawn Bowls Competition, where they will face the best pairs from across the country.
“We’re thrilled to have won the Mpumalanga competition,” said Nel.
“It’s been a long road, but with the help of my partner, Louise, we were able to overcome any obstacles and come out on top. We’re looking forward to representing our province at the national competition and giving it our all.”
The nationals promise to be a fierce competition with some of the best pairs from across the country set to compete.
According to information, the Mpumalanga competition was a true showcase of talent and sportsmanship and the future looks bright for these two athletes.
“I have been working seven years for this one,” Nel said in conclusion.
