Water level at Grootdraai Dam at 99.0%
The other listed dams in the district joining Grootdraai Dam include Nooitgedacht dropping from 100.3% to 99.5%, Jericho from 97.0% to 95.4%, Westoe from 97.1% to 95.1% and Heyshope from 100.7% to 100.5%
Grootdraai Dam in the Gert Sibande District continued its slight drop in water levels.
According to a statement by the Department of Water and Sanitation, their state of reservoirs report dated April 17 showed Grootdraai Dam recorded a further drop from last week’s 99.1% to 99.0%.
Most of the other listed dams in the district also recorded declines in water volumes, except for Vygeboom and Morgenstond dams, which remained unchanged at 100.4% and 100.3%, respectively.

Mpumalanga recorded average level declines from 99.2% to 99.0%.
The water management areas also recorded drops in water levels, with the Olifants dropping from 89.9% to 89.7% and the Inkomati-Usuthu dropping from 100.2% to 100.0%.
The average levels in the districts also dropped, with Ehlanzeni dropping from 100.6% to 100.5%, Gert Sibande from 99.8% to 99.4% and Nkangala from 97.1% to 96.9%.
The department encouraged the public to act responsibly and to continue using the available water wisely and sparingly, considering South Africa is a water-scarce and dry country.
