The court case against the fuel giant, Sasol, had been postponed to July 14.
Representatives of Sasol appeared before the Secunda Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, April 25 on charges of water pollution.
This comes after a former Sasol employee, Ian Erasmus, took the company to court in September last year.
Erasmus had been fighting the company internally for many years.

Erasmus noticed that a large valve at Sasol was allegedly leaking while he was working for them from 2005 as a senior process controller.
He reported it to his managers, but nothing was done.
He then began sending e-mails to senior management and contacted the company’s ethics line.
Erasmus alleges that he was then victimised before he was suspended in 2017.
The Department of Environmental Environment, Forestry and Fisheries got involved and opened a criminal case against Sasol.
