Water levels at Grootdraai Dam are stable
This is in line with the overall water levels in the Gert Sibande District which recorded an unchanged 98.4%.
Water levels at Grootdraai Dam are stable above 95%.
According to the latest Department of Water and Sanitation (DWS) state of reservoirs report, dated May 15, Grootdraai Dam recorded unchanged water levels compared to last week’s 96.8%.
This is in line with the overall water levels in the Gert Sibande District which recorded an unchanged 98.4%.
The other listed dams in the district recorded mixed results, with some dams slightly dropping and others recording some improvements.

The other listed dam that joined Grootdraai Dam in recording unchanged water levels is the Vygeboom Dam, which remained unchanged at 100.8%.
Listed dams that recorded drops in water levels include Jericho Dam, dropping from 92.9% to 92.2% and Westoe Dam, dropping from 89.6% to 87.8%.
Nooitgedacht Dam increased from 98.1% to 99.9%, Morgenstond Dam increased from 100.1% to 100.2% and Heyshope Dam recorded an increase from 100.8% to 100.9%.

Mpumalanga recorded an average increase from 98.8% to 98.9%.
In the Water Management Areas (WMAs), the Olifants WMA increased from 89.9% to 90.3% and the Inkomati-Usuthu WMA remained unchanged at 99.7%.
The department encouraged the public to continue using water wisely and sparingly, especially as we are now in the dry winter season.
They also reminded the public that South Africa is a water-scarce country where every drop counts.
