Air Liquide Large Industries South Africa (Pty) Ltd (Allisa) took hands with Lean Enterprise Acceleration Programme (Leap) to open a new business hub in Secunda.
The launch of the Secunda Business Hub took place on June 29 to promote the development of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMMEs).
Pete Colombo, the chief executive officer of Leap, said they aim with this initiative to help with resources to expand and grow local businesses.
“By leveraging the expertise and resources of Leap, Air Liquide believes the business hub will deliver tangible and sustainable results to the community,” said Colombo.
The business hub, built within six months, will reach many local business owners and entrepreneurs in the Govan Mbeki municipal area.
The Secunda Business Hub will provide entrepreneurs access to business support such as free internet, enterprise and supplier development programmes, conferencing facilities, board rooms, e-mail facilities and printing and scanning facilities.
Besides offering a platform for business activities, the business hub also aims to provide opportunities for black-owned small and medium enterprises to be mentored with in-depth business support and development and a qualified nurse or counsellor to support victims of gender-based violence.

Colombo said, “Entrepreneurs have the power to create jobs and a sustainable income to support local communities in a dignified manner.
“The Secunda Business Hub is an initiative that will provide business support to help those who wish to improve their lives through entrepreneurship.
“The hub is a free and safe environment containing technology and mentorship support to guide and help visitors through this journey. It is an honour to be a part of such an exhilarating project,” Colombo said.
